Two of Prairie Grit’s newest full-time team members, Averi Bradley and DJ Randolph, began their journeys as volunteers nearly six years ago. What started with coaching golf lessons and guiding adaptive hunts has grown into leadership roles shaping Prairie Grit’s preschool, sports, and outdoors programs. Their stories prove that when service is rooted in grit, it can blossom into purpose and possibility.
Honoring a Heart for Inclusion
Prairie Grit proudly recognizes Talli Danelson as the 2025 Roger Mazurek Heart Award recipient. Through her leadership at Gymagic, Talli helped launch and grow Adaptive Gymnastics into one of Prairie Grit’s most successful programs. Her vision and care have given hundreds of young athletes the confidence to shine, both on the mats and far beyond them.

Pinnacle Express and Travel Plaza Launches Month-Long Fundraiser for Prairie Grit
Pinnacle Express and Travel Plaza is once again rallying its customers to make a difference. Throughout the month of June, Pinnacle Express and Travel Plaza locations in Minot, Stanley, and Tioga will host a community fundraising campaign in support of Prairie Grit Adaptive Sports.
Wheelchair Basketball Clinic to Feature National Champion Coach and Adaptive Athlete Hunter Pinke
Prairie Grit Adaptive Sports is bringing elite-level wheelchair basketball to Minot for a weekend of inspiration, skill-building, and community. The Pinke Power Wheelchair Basketball Clinic will be held April 26–27 at the Minot Family YMCA, led by North Dakota native and adaptive athlete Hunter Pinke and National Champion head coach of Arizona Wheelchair Basketball, Mike Beardsley.
HELP NEEDED: Looking for Volunteers for 2025 iCan Bike Camp
Help change a life in just five days. Prairie Grit Adaptive Sports is seeking volunteers for the 2025 iCan Bike Camp, happening July 14-18 at the Minot Family YMCA. Volunteers walk or jog alongside riders with disabilities, providing encouragement and support as they learn to ride a two-wheeled bike.
No experience is needed—just a willingness to help. Volunteers must be 16 or older and available for one or more 75-minute sessions per day.

ADAPTIVE TRACK HEATS UP
For the first time in Minot, adaptive athletes competed alongside peers at a middle school track meet, breaking barriers in inclusion. Prairie Grit athletes Mason, Stella, and Sophia inspired classmates and families with their determination and joy. With cheers echoing through the stands, this historic event marked a step toward making competitive sports accessible to all abilities, redefining what’s possible.

Making History: Prairie Grit Adaptive Gymnastics at the HUGS Meet
In an unforgettable first, Prairie Grit Adaptive Gymnastics athletes competed in a USA Gymnastics-sanctioned event, joining the Gymagic HUGS program in Minot. From overcoming pre-meet nerves to celebrating on the podium, this landmark competition showcased the strength, resilience, and boundless potential of Prairie Grit’s athletes.
Holly Haman, mother of the Haman sisters who took first and second place, shared, “Their smiles on that podium said it all.” This event marks a significant step in adaptive sports, showing the power of inclusion and the drive to succeed.
